Does epoxy flooring scratch over time?
Industrial epoxy coatings applied with proper surface preparation and quartz reinforcement do not crack or peel under forklift and pallet truck traffic. Dragging sharp metal parts can leave superficial scratches, so a protective topcoat is recommended for heavy-duty areas.
Is epoxy flooring safe for homes? Does it smell?
Solvent-free epoxy systems are used in homes, hospitals and food facilities. They produce no noticeable odour during application and, once cured, form a harmless, antibacterial and easy-to-clean surface.
Can epoxy be applied over existing tiles?
Yes. The glazed tile surface is roughened with diamond grinding machines and an adhesion primer is applied. Epoxy can then be installed directly over the existing floor without demolition or debris costs.
How long does installation take and when can the floor be used?
It depends on the area and substrate condition, but an average 500 m² area is completed in 2–3 days. Foot traffic is possible about 24 hours after the topcoat, and heavy loads after 72 hours.
How do you clean an epoxy floor?
Epoxy floors are seamless and dust-free, so they do not trap dirt. A pH-neutral cleaner with water and a microfiber mop or floor scrubber is sufficient. Avoid acidic and abrasive cleaning products.
What determines epoxy floor coating prices?
